The Holland American Line Volendam departing Cairns on a warm and humid midday in Dec 2012. Though tugs were in position, they were not needed. Quite incredible to see the ship move off the berth, out into the channel, swing around 180 degrees and head off into the distance.
The photos of Tjiliwong and Tjimanuk just show to perfection how beautiful these ships were. I must be getting old, I am, but I guess these days will never be repeated. I often wonder if any younger males of today have an interest in ships............... Thanks for the great photos and great site......
