KPM
Hallo Frits

Bedankt! :D ( Is't water hooooguh an'n IEssel?? )

Dear Sir,
I am writing to seek permission on using the
picture of "S.S. Bontekoe in de haven van Gorantalo" as
illustrated in the website:
http://www.scheepspraat.nl/kpm1.htm
The purpose is for a biography of my father (John Ario Katili) an Indonesian Geologist who was born inGorontalo in 1929.
I tried to find a good picture of Gorontalo Port in
the old days, and this is the best that I could find.
The book is a non profit book. It basically will explain about my father's life as well as his work in Indonesian Geology.
I thank you and look forward for your information.
Sincerely,
Amanda Katili

Hello Amanda,
Sorry for my late reply.
The picture on my site is from a magazine of the Dutch shipping company KPM.
The Uitlaat.
Somebody scanned it for me, so I do not know if there is any copyright, I do not think so.
You can always mention my site where you got the picture.
If anybody claims copyright, I will take the claims, but I don't think it will be any problem.
I have sailed for 15 years, sailed with Indonesian crew, but I have never
been there, I have passed the Indonesian Islands a lot of times...
I work ashore now since 26 years and will retire in october this year.
Have in my mind to visit your beautifull country Indonesia once.
Regards,
Jos Komen
Dear Mr. Komen,
Thank you so much for your nice response.
I am sending you the recent pictures of "de haven van
Gorontalo"
If you compared the scanned picture of Gorontalo Port
in your website with the pictures in the attachment,
even after 100 years, although small it is still a
beautiful natural place.
Again, thank you for your help.
