John Papenhuyzen

“Dear John
I came across your website amongst links from a Dutch RIL website. Unfortunately I cannot read/speak Dutch even though I have a Dutch surname!
Currently I’m working in an archives helping researchers find information. I have been trying to find lists of crew of the Straat Colombo / Nedlloyd Colombo for around 1978, when the ship travelled to Auckland and Australia. This is to help a researcher who contacted me. While there is lots of online information about the ships and their specifications and routes it is difficult to find lists of crew. I have seen lists of captains/engineers/mechanics for Nedlloyd and RIL.
However I’m specifically after the surname of a West African chef who worked on the ship in 1978 – first name Mohammed.
I wonder if anyone in your reunion group might remember him? If so, I would be pleased to hear from you.
If you have other suggestions for places I might look for information that would be very helpful.
Many thanks”
