Poetsen met petroleum gemengd met heel fijn gemalen dakpannen.
Het wordt dan niet groen waar het niet goed is uitgepoetst.

Dit is ook weer een klusje van de mannen van de Taklift 6 in Gibraltar.
IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE.. 11 January, 2008 04:27:39
Vessel lies submerged in North Mole waters
The Irrational Exuberance, an 80m former ferry, submerged in ten metres of water, lies on the seabed with part of its superstructure above the waters of No5 Jetty in the North Mole. The ship has remained in this position since it sank two weeks ago.
But what is being done to have it removed? And why was a ship on the verge of sinking moved from the Detached Mole where it had berthed in detention for a number of years to an area of ship activity as is North Mole?
In an attempt to find answers to these questions VOX approached the relevant authorities and was informed that port personnel had been maintaining a watch on the vessel for some considerable time now, as it being a dead ship, on occasion been susceptible to flooding especially after any period of stormy weather or heavy rainfall.
"As a precautionary measure a submersible pump was placed on board to assist in its maintenance, which was operated by port personnel periodically" a port spokesperson stated, adding, "However at 12.30 on the day in question, it was discovered that the vessel had flooded more than usual, probably due to the recent stormy weather and heavy rainfalls over the Christmas period. As a result of this flooding, and the fact that no pumping capability was available for transport to the Detached Mole at the time, it was necessary to have the vessel towed to No 5 Berth in order that adequate access could be obtained". He further added that "The decision to take this vessel to No 5 berth was an operational one, and made by port personnel at the time".
VOX has learned that at one time a watchman was employed to guard the ship but when this man's employment ended the post was never filled.
Endangering Men's Lives
It appears that the Port Department encountered difficulties whilst dealing with the situation at No 5 berth and requested assistance from the Fire Brigade. When the Fire Brigade team arrived they found there was nothing that could be done, for the ship was already listing heavily and any attempt from a land approach would certainly put in danger men's lives plus the fact that their pump was inadequate to deal with the amount of water the ship was making.
The situation became critical................the ship sank.
Non-payment of Dues
VOX then put the question to the new Captain of the Port as to why this problem had never been tackled. He explained that, "this particular vessel was abandoned some years ago and since then it had been moored at the Detached Mole. The vessel was placed under arrest by the port in 2005 for non-payment of dues and despite efforts by my predecessor to have the vessel removed from Gibraltar it remained due, I believe, to difficulties in tracking down the owners" adding "since my appointment, I have pursued this matter with the intention of getting rid of it once and for all. To this end, a shipbroker recommended by the Admiralty Marshall had been arranging its sale and disposal. Unfortunately, events have however now surpassed the matter". He added "It is hoped the vessel will be re-floated within the next month".
The ‘Irrational Exuberance' previously named ‘Estrella' ferried between Gibraltar and Tangier. It was later bought to be converted into a yacht but never leaving Gibraltar. From the time the new owners took over the vessel throughout a seven year period underwent repairs at different jetties around Gibraltar and was several times detained for not complying with port rules.
And though the sunken ship is causing no pollution, the delay in tackling the problem is cause for concern. Different options are being considered on how to deal with it. The suggestion of cutting it apart for scrap has not been discarded.
Apparently the undertaking in putting an end to the problem could run up to over half a million pounds.
If we are to go by Govt's handling of the ‘New Flame' for which different methods were proposed on a monthly basis, how long will this delay be or will this become a second ‘New Flame'?
Will another of governments ‘state of the art' companies be contracted to deal with the ‘Irrational Exuberance'?
