IHC America wins a new contract with Weeks Marine

IHC America, part of Royal IHC, has been awarded a contract for the design, construction and delivery of a spud system with Weeks Marine Inc.
The innovative spud system will be installed on the J.S. CHATRY, a newly-built cutter suction dredger (CSD) that will be operating in coastal areas and large sea harbors. The 1,600mm spud carrier and auxiliary spud system will be tiltable, allowing the vessel to safely pass underneath bridges.

For a different newbuilding project of Weeks Marine IHC America delivered the design, a hardware package and construction support for its new trailing suction hopper dredge MAGDALEN. This will be the third largest dredger for the company. It will also be its fastest, and most fuel-efficient, powerful pumping and highly-automated hopper dredger. The MAGDALEN will be operating on its first project by beginning of 2018.

Jan De Nul Group launches world’s most powerful cutter dredger

At the Uljanik Shipyard in Croatia, Mrs. Julie De Nul released the self-propelled Cutter Suction Dredger Willem van Rubroeck in the sea last Friday by cutting the traditional ties of the rope. The delivery of the vessel will take place in 2018. The vessel has a length of 151.3 m, a width of 36 m and can develop a speed of 12 knots. It has an installed power of 40,975 kW, making it the world’s most powerful cutter dredger. It disposes of two retractable thrusters with a total power of 6,000 kW and three dredging pumps with a total power of 25,500 kW, of which two located in the pump room and one in the cutter ladder.

This vessel will have a cutter power of 8,500kW and will be able to dredge compact sand, clay and rocks up to 45 m deep. The operation, controlled from a central station, is almost completely automated. The vessel will have a high standard accommodation for 67 crew members. Source: Jan De Nul

Volgens mij lijkt de voorkant meer op een Superkanon

Ik denk dat je hier tegen de kont van dit bagger-monster aankijkt Jacob. D.w.z. als ze zelf varende is vanzelf.Baggerende is dit uiteraard de voorkant.

Het is weer groter zo te zien, die Belgen zijn zo dom nog niet.
Trouwens Jan de Nul is een goeie baas, ik heb het genoegen gehad om op de Marco Polo en de Leonardo Davincie
een reissie te mogen doen.
Ook nadat ik een baan aan de wal had gekozen werd ik soms gebeld voor aflosreisje en een schepie wegbrengen.
