Smit Colombo
Smit Colombo
Back in 1985 my family was one of the Vietnamese boat people that had fled the war torn country in hopes of a better life. My dad, mom, 5 year old sister and myself were out on the ocean for 16 days surviving off of just bananas and water.
I was only 3 at the time, had fallen ill and was severely dehydrated. I did not have much time left. Luckily a ship named Smit Colombo had rescued us. The captain of the ship showed great concern for me and did all he can to help. Obviously I am extremely grateful and have started my journey to find this man. I only learned about this today as my parents have never spoken about it as it probably brings back a lot of difficult memories.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know. The only information I have is the name of the boat and that the crew and captain were dutch. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers!
