Siemens Wind Power presents first customized turbine transport vessel in Esbjerg

Milestone for new offshore wind power logistics concept
Ro-Ro-vessel can carry multiple large direct drive nacelles per trip
Sea transportation and Roll on-Roll off-loading (Ro-Ro) are both key in Siemens' new offshore logistics concept launched in 2015. Now the company has commissioned its first specialized transport vessel, the Rotra Vente. It fulfills the needs for cost effective transportation of the large nacelles used in Siemens' direct drive offshore wind turbines.

The 141-meter long vessel can carry multiple 8-megawatt nacelles per trip and will connect Siemens' coming manufacturing site in Cuxhaven, Germany with installation harbors in the North and Baltic Seas. Siemens and logistics partner deugro organization celebrated the delivery of the ship today, together with customers and representatives of the European offshore wind industry, in the Danish harbor of Esbjerg. A sister ship is expected to be delivered in spring 2017.

Designed from a base of an existing hull of a container ship the vessel was rebuilt for its new purpose at Holland Shipyard in Hardinxveld-Giessendam in the Netherlands. Part of its new equipment is a large bow door that allows Ro-Ro access to the restructured cargo deck. The deck is covered by a telescopic roof to protect the nacelles from salty seawater spray during transportation. Since the roof can be opened, Rotra Vente's cargo can also be loaded via cranes at harbors without a Ro-Ro ramp. Due to maximum flexibility of the deck, she can also handle transports of up to nine wind tower sections per trip or three to four rotor blade sets.

"With our new Ro-Ro transport vessel Rotra Vente, we are stepping into a new era of cost efficient offshore wind logistics," states Michael Hannibal, CEO Offshore of Siemens Wind Power. "When our new factories in Hull, England and Cuxhaven, Germany become fully operational, and both Ro-Ro vessels are in service as interconnection of our manufacturing and installation network, we expect savings of 15-20 percent in logistics costs compared to current transport procedures. This is another important contributor reducing the cost of electricity from offshore wind."

"We are proud to operate Rotra Vente for Siemens, since this vessel marks a new milestone in the close cooperation we have maintained for years," said Richard Thomsen, Managing Director of deugro, the project freight forwarding division of the deugro Group "We signed the contract for this innovative logistics concept just one year ago, and we already have one highly efficient ship operational, with a second one in the shipyard."

Rotra Vente's sister ship – a transporter for towers and blades – is already under construction. This vessel will accommodate up to 12 wind turbine rotor blades and transport them from Siemens' production facilities in Hull, England or Aalborg, Denmark to the respective installation harbor.

Bemanning MS Pioneer 'gevangen' in Gibraltar
Vandaag, 19:22 Binnenland

Bron: http://www.telegraaf.nl/ Vandaag, 17:23

First monopile loaded onto sea-going vessel at Sif’s Maasvlakte 2 location

On the morning of 2 January 2017, Sif loaded its first monopile on board a sea-going vessel. The ship in question is the Innovation, a heavy-lift jack-up vessel owned by Geosea, part of the Belgian DEME Group. It was also the first job handled at the new section of Maasvlakte 2’s deep-sea quay (port number 8317).

mp.jpg (95 KiB) 3292 keer bekeken
Monopiles are used for the foundations of offshore wind turbines. They can weigh over 1,000 tonnes a piece. All in all, four monopiles were loaded for transport. Together with the so-called ‘transition pieces’: connecting sections that are used to join the turbine towers to the monopiles. The Innovation left the quay the same night, en route to a wind farm off the coast of the United Kingdom where it will be installing the monopiles. This operation will be followed by a number of similar transports over the next few weeks. Members of the public can witness the activities of the Sif Group up-close during one of the boat tours departing from FutureLand, the Port of Rotterdam Authority’s information centre at the Maasvlakte.

Monopiles unit
In the summer of 2015, the listed steel construction company Sif Group started on the rapid development of a new location for its Monopiles business unit at a 42-ha site on Maasvlakte 2. It has since taken its colossal assembly and coating hall into use. Sif is presently completing two monopiles to a maximum length of 80 metres per week. Work on the industrial site is expected to be finalised by July 2017.

Innovation
The Innovation was taken into service just under five years ago. It has a powerful 1,500-tonne crane and a loading capacity of up to 8,000 tonnes. The heavy-lift jack-up vessels can transport and install 120-metre tall wind turbines with a rated capacity of 6 MW+, as well as heavy foundations in water depths of up to 65 metres. The Innovation is entirely self-sufficient thanks to its all-in-one loading, transport and installation solution.

The Master of APL DENVER reported that one of her bunker tanks sustained damage resulting in approximately 300 tonnes of oil spillage. JPA has deployed four anti-pollution craft on site and an oil boom around APL DENVER to contain the oil spill.

In Singapore, some oil patches were spotted and the spillage has been contained off the western side of Pulau Ubin. MPA has activated a total of eight anti-pollution craft with dispersant spraying capabilities to clean up the spilled oil.
There have been no reports of injury. Traffic in the East Johor Straits and Singapore’s port operations remains unaffected.
MPA as the flag state of WAN HAI 301 will also be investigating the cause of the collision.

Wat ging hier fout.......?

Volgens Maersk, hieronder, geen technisch mankement.......?
On Tuesday 10 January at 02.43 AM local time, our container vessel Gustav Maersk grounded in the Messina Strait, Italy, 2017. Assisted by three tugs the vessel was successfully refloated at 7.30 AM local time and proceeded by own power to Gioia Tauro. All crew is safe and accounted for and no pollution was reported. The vessel was en route from Rijeka, Croatia, to Gioia Tauro, Italy. In Gioia Taura the damage to the vessel will be assessed and potential contingency plans for the cargo be carried out.

We have initiated an investigation of the incident. Initial findings do not indicate that any technical failure caused the incident. We will await the investigation before making any final conclusions.

Als ik de AIS track bekijk, black-out en door de stroom/wind op de kust gezet of uit zijn roer gelopen (beide technisch) of stuurman "asleep at the wheel" !
